Rival Ride 2019 success

Harlequins supporters and staff complete 200KM trip to Coventry as the second year of Rival Ride raises key funds for Harlequins Foundation.
Over Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May riders joined the Harlequins Foundation Team and Club Legends and Players in the second Harlequins Foundation Rival Ride.

The 50-strong team, including Mel Deane, Olly Kohn, George Lowe, Charlie Mulchrone, Mark Lambert, Luke Wallace, Paul Volley, Jim Evans and Holly Myers, rode well over 100 miles from The Twickenham Stoop to Ricoh Arena in Coventry raising over £25,000 for the Harlequins Foundation. The money raised will help the Harlequins Foundation deliver its mission to use the Harlequin network and brand to inspire, educate and equip individuals and communities at home and around the world to change their lives and fulfil their potential.

Departing on Friday 17th May, the peloton cycled 101 miles in a day to Northamptonshire for an overnight stay. The following day they completed the remaining 25 miles to the Ricoh Arena for the final game of the Premiership season between Harlequins and Wasps on the Saturday.

Former Harlequins Olly Kohn said: ‘It was fantastic to be part of a challenge with old team mates on a well organised event to raise money for the Quins Foundation. It was a great experience.’

Head of the Foundation, Marc Leckie said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the participants that took part in the Rival Ride this year, especially those who have returned for the second year. The whole event was a real success, and although incredibly challenging the camaraderie and sense of achievement felt by everyone was evident through the conversations I had during and after the ride.

“We are thrilled with the momentum this annual event now has and are already thinking about next year’s ride – keep your eyes and ears peeled!’

Once the 2019/20 fixture list has been confirmed Harlequins will announce the dates of next year’s Rival Ride. To find out more about the work of the Harlequins Foundation visit www.harlequins.foundation or alternatively call 020 8410 6081 or email foundation@nullquins.co.uk.
