Tackling Inequality: How can rugby improve its support of the LGBTQ+ community and why does it matter?

17th February 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Harlequins Foundation are excited to launch a series of virtual panels discussing the various pillars of the equality, diversity, and inclusion landscape. Designed to complement recently announced EDI webinar series, these panels aim to showcase the lived experiences and stories of trailblazers, activists, and athletes within sport.

Moderated by The Harlequins Foundation Ambassador and rugby union commentator, Nick Heath, our first panel will explore the question, “How can rugby improve its support of the LGBTQ+ community and why does it matter?”, before opening up for an audience Q&A.

The panel participants, who represent the many parts of the rugby family, include:

  • Sue Day MBE, former London Wasps Ladies & England Women Rugby Union player, and current Chief Financial Officer at the Rugby Football Union.
  • Jade Konkel, Harlequins Women and Scotland Women Rugby Union player.
  • Devin Ibañez, New England Free Jacks Major League Rugby player; the first openly gay MLR player.
  • Matt Webb, Chairperson of the Kings Cross Steelers; the world’s first gay rugby club.

Places on this virtual panel discussion are free but strictly limited, so book yours’ today so don’t miss out!
