Matchday Health Checks available at the Stoop this saturday

The Harlequins Foundation is committed to supporting Harlequins colleagues, supporters and wider community to tackle health issues, through raising awareness and encouraging behaviour change.

As part of the Harlequins Foundation’s ongoing commitment to health improvement they are providing free health checks, with an optional test for diabetes (HbA1c) to supporters in the South West Corner at the match against Northampton Saints on Saturday 13th April.

The mini health check will provide supporters with an opportunity to take a ten minute health check of the most crucial health indicators, coupled with a brief discussion on their current health status. It is quick and not intrusive and will provide a snapshot of their current health as well as friendly advice and signposting to services in the local area.

The health checks will be delivered by ICS Health and Wellbeing, and supported by Hospital Health Champions, a Youth Volunteering Programme at West Middlesex University Hospital.

CW+, the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded funding from the Pears Foundation to support the #iwill campaign at the Trust. This exciting new project, which started in June 2018, gives young people aged 16-25 from the local community an opportunity to have a unique volunteering experience, gain valuable life skills and provide an opportunity to give back.

There are currently 49 active youth volunteers at West Middlesex University Hospital who make a valuable contribution to services by improving patient experience. Volunteers are placed in a variety of patient facing roles from welcoming and way finding for outpatient appointments to visiting lonely patients in our surgical or older people’s wards – providing companionship through conversation, games or reading.

As part of a partnership established between Harlequins Foundation, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and CW+, you will see Hospital Health Champions at the match on Saturday. The Hospital Health Champions are committed to promoting health within the wider community of the hospital and will be encouraging supporters to take a mini health check.
