London Youth Games are putting disabled young Londoners at the heart of the competition, empowering them to set, film, complete, and share sport-related challenges as part of the LYG Virtual Inclusive Games \u2013 an eight-week virtual challenge series launching on Tuesday 9th<\/sup> February.<\/p>\n Following the success of the summer\u2019s Virtual Games, which attracted over 40,000 entries during the first national lockdown, London Youth Games has taken an inclusive approach to its latest virtual offering. The LYG Virtual Inclusive Games will feature inclusive challenges set by young disabled people, which include suggested adaptations to ensure as many young Londoners as possible can get involved.<\/p>\n Over the course of the eight-week competition, young people are encouraged to take part in a weekly set of inclusive sports challenges, based around a new sport each week. The Harlequins Foundation is incredibly proud to be supporting LYG by setting a series of inclusive rugby challenges for young people across London to have a go at.\u00a0 Lucas, who plays for his local mixed-ability rugby side, the Surrey Chargers, will be setting the bar for the rugby challenges going live in March.<\/p>\n Formed in 2016, The Surrey Chargers are a fully inclusive rugby team based at one of our affiliate community clubs, Chobham RFC. Mixed-ability rugby affords young people the opportunity to enjoy learning a new sport and competing as part of a welcoming and inclusive team. Thanks to support from Premiership Rugby and Gallagher, the Chargers have been supported by The Harlequins Foundation as part of the nationwide participation programme, Project Rugby.<\/p>\n There is still time for your school to sign up to the LYG\u2019s Virtual Inclusive Games, in time to enjoy The Harlequins Foundation\u2019s inclusive Rugby activities, by signing up HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Harlequins Foundation is also looking ahead to the summer term, where we will be offering local schools the opportunity to take part in inclusive rugby taster sessions for their students, thanks to Project Rugby funding.
