Last week, the UK Government announced a \u00a31bn funding package aimed at helping children catch up on the education they have missed out on during the lockdown period.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of Foundation, Marc Leckie<\/b>, has made the following statement in response.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome the government\u2019s decision to provide this much needed funding, which will support young people in our local community and across the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis period has been very difficult for children and families, and this funding will allow students who have missed out on vital learning time to catch up, and put them in the best position to succeed in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are particularly pleased to see the \u00a3300 million commitment to a National Tutoring Programme, which will support the most disadvantaged young people in society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt The Harlequins Foundation, we work with many disadvantaged young people who have struggled to access mainstream education. Our programmes show the power that targeted and tailored intervention can have on the lives of disadvantaged young people, so we welcome this renewed commitment from the government at such an important time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
